Mortefontaine, no longer in production, is completely handprinted, a true work of art from the French master Pierre Frey, evoking the charm of the Second Empire period when naturalistic flowers in full bloom reigned supreme. Achingly beautiful, with incredibly vibrant and dramatic floral bouquets of peonies, roses, and other flowers, detailed in vibrant myriad colors of rose red, rose pink, coral, grey blue, evergreen, moss, brick, periwinkle, grey, aqua and canyon red. The background is also richly detailed in wide impressionistic stripes of blue and white with tiny dots, all hand-printed! On the reverse, a silky off-white textile has embroidered dots for added detail and texture. A rose grosgrain ribbon perfectly outlines the bouquet and pops the rosy colors. Very special.
